FUNCTION
The Food & Beverage Lead assists departmental management by facilitating day-to-day operations and providing support to all Food & Beverage staff.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and delegates duties to food & beverage team members to ensure that areas are staffed properly
- Monitors the flow of service and addresses the needs of staff to run operations effectively
- Ensures that cleanliness and service standards are met and upheld by team members
- Uses point-of-sales systems to take orders and close out checks as well as other restaurant equipment to ensure an efficient flow of service
- Assists Food & Beverage leadership in improving and ensuring the accuracy of all menus (food and drink) while updating point-of-sale systems as required
- Maximizes cost-effectiveness within the department by ensuring staff compliance with guest service standards
- Ensures guest satisfaction through constant interactions with guests and team members to develop customer loyalty and resolve conflicts
- Performs “responsible alcohol service” concerning patron limitations and passes any/all responsible alcohol service training
- Maintains and enforces compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes
- Be trained in all areas of FOH (food server, beverage server, and bartender) and can perform all functions necessary and operate all equipment
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand recipes and communicate with other Team Members.
- Verifies that all sanitation and nutrition practices are maintained by FOH staff.
- Monitor flow of service and needs of bar and serving staff to do their jobs effectively.
- Provide excellent guest service to both internal and external guests.
- Delegates duties and assign responsibilities to staff
- Responsible for attending to escalated guest’s complaints and resolving matters as expediently as possible
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
- Maintaining interpersonal working relationships among all personnel and works effectively with others.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and handle high-pressure situations.
- Available to work as needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Uses Point of Sale equipment to enter orders for all food and beverages
- Is a role model for the company and responds to questions positively.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of relevant information.
- Demonstrated record of successful interpersonal skills regarding working with diverse people and levels of authority.
- All internal and external guests must be treated in a manner to ensure complete satisfaction. Always strive to exceed our guests’ expectations
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Ability to navigate stairs and being on your feet for 8 hours.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of wines, alcohol, and basic food is preferred.
- 6 months prior work experience is preferred.
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky racing license.
