Job DetailsJob Location: St. Andrew's Episcopal School - NC - Ridgeland, MS 39157Position Type: SeasonalQualificationsObjective:  To oversee the effective administration and growth of all aspects of the volleyball program.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of volleyball.
Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with volleyball.
Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
Recruit, train, and supervise assistant coaches in conjunction with the Head of Athletics.
Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to MHSAA guidelines.
Ensure the integrity and fairness of all sports’ tryouts and selection processes, including appropriate and timely notifications that honors the dignity of students regarding their selection.
Work with administrators and faculty to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs.
Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate student-athletes' abilities initially and on a regular basis.
Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, administrators, and faculty.
Work with Athletic department personnel to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.
Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment.
Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program.
Oversee the process of ordering, cleaning, repairing, and storing athletic equipment and uniforms.
Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in volleyball during away games.
Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook.
Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
Organize and assist with special activities such as homecoming, lower school visits, senior night, banquets, awards night, and pep rallies.
Develop and implement strategies to increase interest in volleyball participation.
Stay abreast of the latest advances in coaching.

 

Work Environment:

Physical demands include:

Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the students.
Ability to visually monitor students.
Ability to operate fitness and strength and conditioning equipment.
Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving equipment/boxes (up to 50 lbs.)
