JOB SUMMARY:

This is a Tax Specialist I position in the General Tax Administration Program, Taxpayer Services Process, Tax Information Section. The incumbent provides guidance on policy and procedures regarding laws, collection activities and accounting principles from complex tax related inquiries to both internal and external customers. The incumbent also researches tax issues and laws and examines taxpayer accounts for compliance using the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX). Additionally, the incumbent may provide training and assistance in several areas of taxation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently employed with Florida Department of Revenue.
  • Two years of experience applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Two years of experience communicating with customers to resolve inquiries.
  • Two years of experience researching or analyzing accounts to make decisions for final determination working in the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX).
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • The successful candidate will be required to answer a large volume of calls up to 7.5 hours a day.
  • This position is eligible for teleworking after successfully completing training and meeting performance expectations. Training is conducted virtually in a socially distanced office environment. The successful candidate must complete all assigned training and is required to receive a score of at least 80% on each assessment (should any be necessary) in order to retain this position. 
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Spanish to be verified through the hiring process.

SALARY: The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $3,881.92 monthly/$46,583.08 annually.
