Senior Credit Officer CSL
INGAbout the role
The department: CRO/WB/Transaction Approval & Advice
As part of the Wholesale Banking CRO domain, Transactional Approval & Advice (“TA&A”) acts as the second line of defence on transactions with ING’s corporate clients, originated by our Sectors, Lending, Transaction Services, Financial Markets and CM&A teams in EMEA.
The Senior Credit Officers (SCOs) in this team have a deep understanding of credit structuring, credit risk and businesses & markets, next to the assessment of related risks like ESG, compliance and climate risk.
In addition to the asset-by-asset approval process, SCOs have a delegated approval authority to manage their portfolios and they advise senior management on the strategic direction in terms of risk appetite and portfolio steering in sectors and products.
Our NL department employs ~65 people and is organized over 5 teams;
Energy, Transportation & Logistics; Real Estate, Infra & Construction; Commodities, Food and Agri; TMT & Healthcare, Acquisition Finance, Asset securitization, BMG, Corporate Investments, Corporate Sector Lending NL and Working Capital Solutions/SCF; Environmental & Social Responsibility
In addition, the TA&A teams are engaged in strategic projects covering sector analysis, portfolio analysis, ECB requests, reporting, ESG/climate change and a wide range of other related initiatives covering the wider credit strategy of ING.
It is a great environment, with short communication lines to senior leaders within the (Risk) organisation, and the deal flow is demanding and allows you to learn and grow fast. You will operate in one of the key centres that drives the risk profile of ING.
The role
The SCO is responsible for advising and managing client transactions from originating to closing from a credit risk perspective. The SCO is the primary point of contact for front office for her/his portfolio and safeguards the risk appetite of the bank in balance with a sound commercial sense. The SCO is a credit structuring expert with the product/sector expertise and exhibits a deep and specialized knowledge on the relevant sectors, markets and/or products.
The TA&A organisation is relatively small, to a large extent self-steering, in which you are requested and required to take ownership. Therefore you will be spending the vast majority of your time on (indirectly) supporting our clients, frequently after in-depth discussions with our FO colleagues to reach a palatable solution to the client need. You will be doing it in a dynamic, international and diverse Risk team, where we share and use each other’s knowledge. The timelines of (especially TMT&HC and AF) requests are usually short, and as such can be demanding, which requires a level of flexibility, where and a ‘can do‘ mentality is important.
Your position will be based in the Amsterdam and you will report to the team lead, who is responsible for the TMT & Healthcare, Acquisition Finance, Asset securitization, BMG, Corporate Investments, Corporate Sector Lending NL and Working Capital Solutions/SCF portfolios.
