Brief Description of Duties:
The Liu Laboratory at Stony Brook University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to join our new and growing group. Research in the Liu Lab explores how bacteria manipulate host organelle structures to understand host-pathogen interactions and cellular defense. We use a multidisciplinary approach that integrates cellular and molecular biology, proteomics and phosphoproteomics, and in vitro/in vivo infection models to uncover how organelles such as the centrosomes and cilia contribute to host defense. The postdoc will receive comprehensive training in a broad range of experimental techniques, including cell culture, molecular and biochemical assays, imaging, and infection models. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop strong research skills, contribute to high-impact projects, and work closely with the PI in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Under the direct supervision of Dr. Liu, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
● Protein, RNA and DNA preparation and analyses; mammalian cell culture with sterile techniques.
● Data analysis and participate in manuscript writing for publication.
● Participate in weekly lab meetings, and other duties/projects as assigned.
● Assist in ordering supplies to keep the lab inventory well stocked.
● Regular maintenance of lab equipment.
● Miscellaneous lab duties.
● Other duties as assigned.
