About the role

Description

Position Summary:

RN is responsible for planning and providing high quality, individualized patient care using the components of the nursing process in a fast-paced Ambulatory Surgery Center, which specializes in Ophthalmologic and Oculoplastic Surgery.


List of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, works closely with the surgeon and anesthesia team to support a safe recovery in the post anesthesia area of a fast paced surgery center. 
  • Collects and analyzes all pertinent post op vital signs and assessment details and communicates efficiently with the surgical and anesthesia teams as necessary to ensure a safe and stable for discharge home. 
  • Assists with transfers from OR to PACU and from PACU to transportation home.
  • Answers any and all post op questions and concerns as necessary from the patient and/or family members. 
  • Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining pre, intra, and post-surgical diagnosis and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain desired outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. 
  • Makes initial and ongoing assessments of patient needs (clinical, emotional and social) and assists the healthcare team with appropriate recommendations or referrals for care.
  • Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. 
  • Documents patient care interactions in electronic healthcare record in a manner consistent with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in surgery chart preparation and patient pre and post-operative phone calls.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and demonstrates excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic as a team player who can multitask and provide high-quality patient care in a busy outpatient setting.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Classification:

Non-exempt

No weekends/holidays/on-call required.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (required)

High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

Minimum 2 years acute care facility experience (preferred)

Ambulatory Surgery Center experience (preferred)


Required Licenses/Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)

California RN Licensure (required)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (within 180 days)
