About the team

We’re hiring an engineer to help build the product experience and infrastructure of Stripe Docs (https://stripe.com/docs). 

Every day thousands of businesses use our docs to get up and running with Stripe. The Docs Product team’s mission is to make that process as easy and seamless as possible, while also building world class infrastructure and tooling for creating and maintaining our documentation content at scale.

Stripe is known for having great docs. This is an opportunity to help build that experience as part of a team of exceptional people.

We are looking for someone with strong engineering skills who is comfortable working on a complex front-end code base and thinking about technical, user, and strategic goals. The bulk of our experiences are created with React, so experience working with that framework in production systems is key.

What you’ll do

 

Responsibilities

• Scope and lead complex technical projects, laying the groundwork for early-stage products to iterate and scale.
• Design, build, and maintain robust internal and external user-facing experiences.
• Create beautiful and interactive site features using React and CSS.
• Work closely with multiple disciplines including Product, Design, and Technical Writing to help ship great solutions.
• Develop and execute against both short- and long-term roadmaps.
• Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
• Help engineers advance in their careers and develop new skills.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

• 3+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Hands-on experience building and shipping production code.
• A passion for great documentation and great user experience.
• A deep appreciation for (and track record of delivering) quality craftsmanship.
• The ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
• The ability to focus on results and clearly communicate the impact of their work.

Preferred qualifications

• You have worked on high profile, flagship user-facing surfaces at companies of similar scale (or larger) to Stripe.
• You have worked on products aimed at a technical audience.
• You have direct experience integrating with API-first products.
