Overview
The Sr Manager, Government Wireless Sales and Operations drives growth and manages customer retention in the SLED (State, Local, and Education) government and large business segments of C Spire’s wireless customer base. This is done through effective management of the Government and Business Wireless team, which includes sales professionals and sales engineering, direct customer relationship building and management, and identifying opportunities for operational excellence to improve internal policies, procedures, and systems. Responsible for direct employee management of sales, retention, and revenue growth for State of Mississippi agency government accounts and Mississippi local government accounts.
Responsibilities
- Team Management
- Implement action plans developed by senior management to grow existing state and local government accounts through new product introductions and needs assessments.
- Lead weekly meetings with your government team discussing policies and procedures on all government related items.
- Hire and train new Government Sales team members and develop them into highly successful contributors.
- Ensure government reps build strong working relationships with all government decision makers and influencers that are associated with assigned government accounts.
- Attend appointments with government sales team and hold government account executives accountable to visitation and contact goals.
- Lead team on operational tasks, including but not limited to, invoice management, billing research, process improvement projects, and product development.
- State of Mississippi Wireless Contract No. 3820
- Oversee management of all aspects of the State of Mississippi Wireless Contract No. 3820.
- Attend all internal project meetings on behalf of the Government Sales Channel and represent the wireless government team as the subject matter expert for Contract No. 3820.
- Represent C Spire as the escalation contact for internal and external customers regarding government issues associated.
- Responsible for submission of required reporting associated with Contract No. 3820 to Mississippi Information Technology Services.
- Assist Senior Management in maintaining accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports.
- Involve senior management and legal department when amendments are necessary for updates in the Contract.
- Responsible for the creation and implementation of all government wireless policies. Ensure all policies and procedures related to government contracts are communicated on an ongoing basis to all C Spire sales channels.
- Manage the Government Web Portal with changes related to equipment, pricing, products, and services.
- Manages the government equipment prices list.
- Manages the government Quote Portal.
- Attends and represents C Spire at monthly and weekly government meetings outside of Corporate Headquarters.
- Work closely with and act as the liaison for all C Spire departments involved with the projects for Government Wireless Sales.
- Plan and coordinate government meetings, conferences, exhibits, and all details associated with such events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED
- At least five years of proven experience meeting or exceeding sales quota required.
- At least five years of experience successfully leading and managing sales or operations teams required.
- At least five years of experience in wireless or telecommunications industry required.
- Knowledge of Contract No. 3820, USAC/ECF/E-Rate Process, ESSER, and other educational grant processes, and an overall understanding of the government procurement process for State, Local, and K-12 schools and libraries is required.
- Knowledge and experience with government RFP responses required.
- Candidates must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
- PREFERRED
- Proven strong working relationships with State of Mississippi government agencies and/or local government accounts is strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit for long periods of time, be able to lift 40 lbs., and lift materials. Must be able to use a computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing computer screen. Some evening or weekend work is required. This position will require overnight travel.
