Software Engineer, Intern

Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check. 

Essential Job Duties

As a Software Developer Intern (undergraduate), you will contribute to the current and next generation of our award-winning app on either our Backend or Frontend teams! You’ll be working alongside our incredible engineers, making changes to our live site within a few weeks of your internship (that's right, we release wicked fast!). You’ll be paired with a skilled mentor who will help you develop your skills and make the most of your internship experience. On the Backend, we design database schemas, create API endpoints, integrate with multiple systems, tame business logic, and product designs into an orderly collection of classes, build tools that help customers, systems administrators, and other engineers. We use PHP, MySQL, C#, SqlServer, and many other technologies in our stack.

On the Frontend, we work closely with UX designers, product managers, and our backend software engineers to create a highly polished and interactive frontend in React for our enterprise-level web application. Our stack consists of Webpack, Babel, React, and an abstraction of Material UI within our design system.

You will:

• Practice a scrum-like agile development process using CI/CD systems.
• Work with a world-class product development team to integrate your projects into the application.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our systems and processes.

• Integrate AI into your daily tasks using IDEs (or plugins) such as Github Copilot and Windsurf. Leverage ChatGPT to streamline your workload by brainstorming and refining ideas, and planning projects.
• Join our fast-paced team as we innovate at the speed of AI. AI is integrated into our products, development processes, and IDEs. We utilize AI tools like Windsurf, ChatGPT, Claude, Sonnet, Grok, and Gemini in our daily work.

This will be a paid, full-time internship (M-F, 8-5), running from May 2026 to August 2026.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

• Experience in an object-oriented programming language (backend)  
• Basic education with web development (frontend)
• Familiarity with relational databases (backend)
• Familiarity with version control software, preferably Git 
• You live within commuting distance of our Draper, UT office
• Excited to integrate AI-powered features into front-end workflows, such as real-time personalized UI elements, dynamic content rendering, or customized chatbot interactions using prompt engineering.
