Senior Strategy Analyst - GoM

About the role

The objective of this role is to provide timely, thought-provoking insight to Wood’s senior leaders on relevant GoM Brownfield and Decommissioning industry trends, companies, and service providers.  This is an advisory role which requires strong influencing skills at a senior level in the company but would not ordinarily have strong direct decision-making responsibility.  

The role will have a dual focus; to support the Business Unit in which they are embedded in the Business Development and Operational Management functions on areas of strategic importance to Wood.  Assist with developing robust business plans, while supporting corporate initiatives, ensuring Wood’s values are at the core of all activities.  

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities  

  • Identify, obtain, validate, aggregate and critically assess sources of information from both primary and secondary research 
  • Written and verbal market analysis of sector, services, companies 
  • Provide input into the Strategic Planning process 

Working Relationships  

Internal: Executive Leaders and Business Leaders, including Operational and Functional 

External: Industry engagement with vendors and supplier market intelligence.  Client engagement as appropriate to conduct primary intelligence gathering. 

Level of Influence 

  • Very high level of influence through guiding strategic thinking, conversation, and culture amongst senior operational and functional leaders, including Executive Leaders. 
  • Ability to make recommendations based on their expertise and defend their position through reasoned arguments. 
  • Ability to influence best practice regarding processes, tools and analytical methodology through influencing Strategy functional leaders and peer to peer engagement. 

Experience and Qualifications  

  • Degree in related business field or equivalent years of experience
  • Significant industry experience in the GoM
  • A strong understanding of the GoM’s Oil and Gas industry 
  • Expert in creative problem solving skills and analytical skills 
  • Experience of engaging with and influencing senior management to facilitate decision making and formulate strategic direction 
  • Good Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work as part of a remote team and interact with colleagues in multiple locations
