Senior R&D Technician(Onsite)

The Senior R&D Technician will provide technical support to engineers on various technical tasks, including building and testing devices used for mechanical thrombectomy for Class III devices. Additionally, the Senior Technician develops procedures, test methods, and prepares technical reports. In this role, you will interact very closely with engineers and other technicians towards the development of next-generation devices.
This role is on-site in Irvine, CA. First shift; Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00, with some flexibility.
What You Will Do:
- Independently assemble and test prototypes, analyze data, and document results to support product and process development.
- Develop build protocols, test procedures, and preliminary engineering drawings; contribute to specifications and engineering documentation.
- Act as a technical lead by training others on new processes, test methods, equipment, and prototype builds.
- Support engineers in process development, including design, prototyping, validation, and implementation of manufacturing methods.
- Operate complex test equipment, ensure calibration/maintenance, and train staff on proper use.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to source vendors, acquire supplies/equipment, and resolve project needs.
- Provide sound technical judgment, ensuring compliance with quality systems, GLP, QS, and regulatory requirements in all work.
- Contribute innovative concepts for advanced prototypes, fixtures, and manufacturing processes that enhance product performance and efficiency.
What You Need:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on, proactive, and collaborative, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic R&D environment.
- Technical experience in medical device development, with 3+ years in R&D (7+ years preferred).
- Proficiency with catheter manufacturing equipment such as lamination machines, hotbox, tipping/flaring tools, leak testers, and Instron systems.
- Skilled in creating preliminary equipment/prototype drawings and bench fixturing or tooling design.
- Experience collaborating with external vendors to support prototyping and testing needs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively support cross-functional teams.
$28.01 - $50.38 hourly plus bonus eligible + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
