About the role

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Buffalo, NY.  

In this role will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
  • Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.
  • Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level. 
  • Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.
  • Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software

    Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
    Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
    Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution 
    Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
    This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

    Experience: 
    Minimal level of work shop experience required
    Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Must have or have ability to obtain NYS drivers license. 

Candidate will be responsible for supplying his or her own tools (all Cummins specific Tooling will be supplied by the branch).

Candidate must be a strong communicator. Proficient written and verbal communication skills are a must. 

Ability to systematically follow directions along with strong reading and comprehension skills will set the candidate up for success in this role.

-    This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

-    A current valid license is required for this role
-    Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
-    This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations 

-    A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
-    Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
