Position Summary
The EHS Specialist supports environmental, health, safety, and security (EHSS) programs at manufacturing or distribution facilities. This position is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with Oatey’s standards and all applicable regulatory requirements. The role partners with management, operations, and associates to promote a proactive safety culture and minimize risk to employees, the community, and the environment.
Position Responsibilities
Support the development, implementation, and administration of EHSS programs and procedures in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
Lead and advise operations on EHSS initiatives to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
Coordinate and facilitate EHSS training for management and associates to enhance safety awareness and ensure regulatory compliance.
Participate in Safety Committee initiatives and lead safety projects and campaigns across the site.
Conduct regular facility inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Manage incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
Develop and monitor EHSS performance metrics, trends, and reports to drive improvement and support business goals.
Assist with environmental compliance activities including waste management, air, and water permitting programs.
Administer PPE programs, including prescription eyewear and safety shoes, and ensure proper use and availability of protective equipment.
Partner with management and employees to foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Support sustainability initiatives and regulatory audits as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
Three (3) or more years of experience in an environmental, health, and safety role within manufacturing or distribution environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead or support EHSS initiatives, inspections, and compliance programs.
Experience with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations, standards, and best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and recommend improvements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data management tools.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
Experience in Lean manufacturing applications and concepts such as Kaizen and Six Sigma preferred.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, Safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Compensation Range for the Position.
$53,628.00 - $68,376.00 - $83,124.00
Target Cash Profit Sharing for the Position
8% of Base Salary
