PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Financial Analyst is responsible for daily cash management, maintaining company property records, filing sales tax reports, and participating in general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation. As multiple brands within the operating company merge and consolidate over the next 2 to 3 years, support of the integration processes, procedures, and systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide oversight to all aspects of financial operations and monthly closing for one of the brands of Springfield Electric, while supporting financial operations and analysis across the entire Operating Company.
- Prepare financial analysis on behalf of VP, Finance and/or Finance Manager when requested.
- Serve as first line of support to brand Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable specialists.
- Monitor the daily deposit activity at the branch locations and the related transfer of funds to the main Springfield Electric Supply bank account.
- Reconcile general ledger control accounts to the detail records, including cash in bank accounts, cash on hand accounts, accounts receivable, other advances and deposits, inventory, and property and depreciation accounts.
- Prepare and file periodic sales and other tax reports at state and local level.
- Review branch filings for vendor rebates.
- Participate in internal audit activities, administer internal controls, and support year end audit work.
- Participate in branch physical inventories, if necessary.
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties and projects as requested.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with specific coursework in accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent on the job experience as determined by Springfield Electric.
- Two (2) to four (4) years of broad-based accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of double entry general ledger accounting.
- Commitment to and demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions, including the ability to maintain information in a confidential manner.
- Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude.
- Proven proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Access.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including an ability to plan and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proven attentiveness to detail coupled with problem analysis and resolution skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with organizational members.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree, CPA, CMA or other comparable certification.
PHYSICAL ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
