Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

TransMedics is transforming organ transplantation through the Organ Care System (OCS), a breakthrough medical technology platform. Our Software Engineering team develops and supports the digital systems that power device functionality, data management, and user interfaces within a highly regulated medical device environment. 

The Software Engineering Intern will support medical device software development activities, including testing, verification, tool validation, and digital application development. This role offers hands-on experience working within a structured software development lifecycle (SDLC) in a regulated industry. 

The intern will collaborate with software engineers to support Mac-based development environments and contribute to iOS-based applications using Swift. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Software Development Support 

  • Assist in development of software features and enhancements for medical device systems 

  • Support digital software development on Mac platforms 

  • Contribute to iOS development projects using Swift 

  • Assist with scripting and automation tasks as needed 

Testing & Verification 

  • Support software testing and verification activities 

  • Assist with writing and executing test protocols 

  • Document test results in accordance with quality and regulatory standards 

  • Participate in debugging and issue tracking activities 

Tool Evaluation & Validation 

  • Assist with evaluation and validation of software development tools 

  • Support configuration management and version control processes 

  • Contribute to documentation required for regulated software environments 

Collaboration & Compliance 

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering and Quality teams 

  • Follow structured software development and documentation processes 

  • Comply with all safety and regulatory requirements

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have direct reports.

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES

  • General office environment where there is a significant amount of time at a desk, working on computers and reviewing documents. This requires the ability to sit for extended periods. They also may need to stand for meetings or when moving around the office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                                                         

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field 

  • College Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate Stu
