R&D Data, Analytics and AI Architecture Lead

About the Role:  

As the R&D Data, Analytics and AI Architecture Lead, you will hold overall accountability for the architecture across the Data, Analytics, and AI landscape within the AstraZeneca R&D area. Your key responsibilities will include creating relevant strategies, roadmaps, principles, standards, and patterns while collaborating closely with projects to ensure adherence. You will partner with key R&D teams, IT Leadership teams, and other Architecture functions to develop the overall strategic position for the R&D Data, Analytics and AI landscape, aligned with R&D strategies and visions. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a change catalyst, proactively addressing and incorporating industry trends into AZ's vision. 

Accountabilities: 

• Lead a team of solution architects specializing in R&D domains such as omics, imaging, scientific knowledge graphs, and informatics. 

• Establish strong partnerships with R&D IT, R&D Data Office, Data Sciences, and AI organizations across R&D for all therapeutic areas. 

• Act as an authority to the architecture community and the business regarding strategic architecture decisions for R&D data, analytics, and AI. 

• Lead the development of Architecture Roadmaps and Blueprints within a 1-5-year horizon. 

• Ensure Data, Analytics, and AI Architectures are in alignment with global strategies and solutions. 

• Establish partnerships with key data and AI technology partners externally and refine architecture patterns, designs, and blueprints in partnership with Data, Analytics, and AI service/engineering teams. 
   

Essential Skills/Experience: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Data Management, or equivalent experience. 

• Extensive experience and knowledge of Data, Analytics, and AI solutions. 

• Proven ability to influence and deliver strategic vision, direction, and planning. 

• Blend of data architecture, analysis, and engineering skills with familiarity in cloud-based containerization strategies and AI Ops. 

• Understanding of appropriate data structure and technology based on business use cases. 

• Experience in known industry architectural patterns, data modeling technologies, and Agile data definition scrums. 

• Proficiency in metadata cataloguing tools. 
   

Desirable Skills/Experience: 

• Familiarity with Data Mesh architecture and practical examples of Data strategy definition and roadmap creation. 

• Extensive experience in designing and providing data engineering blueprints that have been pragmatically and implemented.
