The full-time (40 hours per week) Pharmacy Technician will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.

 

Pharmacy Location: San Bernadino County Public Health 400 North Pepper Ave Colton, CA 92324

 

Hours of Operation: Pharmacy is open 24hr/ 7 days a week

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and dispenses medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Processes prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Assists pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
  • Delivers medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Maintains medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Supports medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Collaborates with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Complies with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active CA state Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
  • Recent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician, ideally in outpatient setting
  • Excellent customer service skills including effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Demonstrated ability to process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Demonstrated ability to assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Demonstrated ability to support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations

 

Preferred Qualification:

  • PTCB/CPhT
