Collins Aerospace Internship Program is one of the cornerstones of the company's college recruiting strategy. Students hired into this program represent our pipeline of talent - our future executives! This program provides an opportunity for a short term work assignment for students pursuing degree programs directly related to our core business.

The intern will work on some if not all of the following projects for the Design Engineering Test group . 

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in running qualification testing

  • Create qualification test plan, test procedure, and test result documentation

  • Perform development testing

  • Troubleshoot test issues that occur in both development and qualification testing

  • Assist with periodic testing of production parts as needed

  • Provide any additional support to the design engineering test group as needed.

What You Will Learn:

  • Hands on experience with various fire protection product lines in both aviation and ground vehicle platforms (e.g. fire extinguishing, overheat detection, smoke detection, flame/fire detection, and control cards)

  • Hands on experience with various test equipment and test techniques

  • Gain experience with DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing

  • Internal processes used to ensure quality of system components shipped to customer.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of programs

  • Great teamwork and communication skills

  • Mechanical Aptitude

  • Educational experience in either mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering
