Sentara Health is hiring a Clinical Pharmacist for our Specialty Pharmacy team at Norfolk General Hospital!

Status: Full Time (40 hours)

Shift: M-F Days 8:00-4:30; 8:30-5pm, 9:30-6:00 (rotating shifts)

Weekend: Occasional Saturdays between 8:30 to 5pm.

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA

Required qualifications

  • Virginia Pharmacist License

  • Experience with online pharmacy adjudication systems

  • Will consider new graduated pharmacists and pharmacists not licensed in Virginia due to relocation. Must have Virginia license within 90 days of Sentara start date

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced certification in HIV, oncology, infectious disease, or ambulatory care

Job responsibilities:

  • Works in a high volume call and/or fulfillment center within the SNGH Case Management Pharmacy
  • Maintains current knowledge of specialty focused medications and disease states and ensures appropriate therapy and in-depth patient counseling is provided
  • Serving as a clinical and process leader on a multi-disciplinary team, the pharmacist provides exceptional customer service through engaging as a primary drug information resource for both patients and the medical community
  • Identifies new opportunities for cost savings, decreased medical expenses, and improved outcomes while maintaining a high level of patient care and safety.

Job Summary

The Specialty Clinical Pharmacist works in a high volume call and/or fulfillment center within the SNGH Case Management Pharmacy. The clinical pharmacist maintains current knowledge of specialty focused medications and disease states and ensures appropriate therapy and in-depth patient counseling is provided. Serving as a clinical and process leader on a multi-disciplinary team, the pharmacist provides exceptional customer service through engaging as a primary drug information resource for both patients and the medical community. The pharmacist identifies new opportunities for cost savings, decreased medical expenses, and improved outcomes while maintaining a high level of patient care and safety.

Experience with online pharmacy adjudication systems required. Will consider new graduated pharmacists and pharmacists not licensed in Virginia due to relocation. Must have Virginia license within 90 days of Sentara start date. Advanced certification in HIV, oncology, infectious disease, or ambulatory care (preferred). Will consider newly licensed graduates. Specialty, outpatient, inpatient, or ambulatory care experience. PharmD. Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
