Job Description

As a valued colleague on our Sponsor Risk Group within our Multifamily Credit Risk team, you will provide expert advice on risk monitoring and reviews for the organization, coordinate risk mitigation activities, and provide risk mitigation assistance to other groups.

We have one opening for this job and it can be worked on a Hybrid basis from our Plano, TX, Reston, VA or Washington, DC offices.

The Commercial Real Estate Lead Risk Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Guide team in monitoring and identifying sponsor and portfolio level risks to a group or the organization.
  • Provide expert advice on risk monitoring and reviews for the organization, coordinate risk mitigation activities, and provide risk mitigation assistance to other groups.
  • Analyze risks and lead discussions to brainstorm solutions.
  • Partner with the team to carry out business strategies that will drive success in the face of shifting sponsor and market behaviors and regulations.
  • Implement plans or decisions to avoid risks or mitigate their impact.

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 4 years related experience in the area of multifamily credit risk underwriting and/or commercial loan asset management activities.
  • Experienced with analyzing complex financial statements and schedules of real estate of multifamily sponsors for the purpose of analyzing trends, summarizing findings, and elevating risks.
  • Strong familiarity with concepts of counterparty/sponsor strength, credit underwriting and risk management.
  • Skilled in business writing and supporting recommendations through diverse sources of data and documentation, as well as presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.
  • Ability to frame ideas as systems and analyzing the inputs, outputs, and process.
  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions.
  • Adept at managing multiple projects concurrently while providing status updates to stakeholders and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and lead specific tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with an attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency, with the wherewithal to raise issues and questions when needed.
  • Strong communication, influencing and collaboration skills, along with relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and SharePoint.

Desired Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong familiarity with the Fannie Mae DUS program and multifamily housing
  • Experience in the process of analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data.
  • Experience using Risk Works, Archer or MetricStream.
  • Tableau skills.
