Job Description
As a Structural Systems Design Engineer for Rolls-Royce, you’ll perform a range of system structural assessments across the full product lifecycle, including new design concepts through to in-service operations. You will also bring forward innovative analytical and experimental solutions for customer issues to meet whole product mechanical integrity requirements, including static, transient, and dynamic loads and responses.
This position is a deployed engineering position on the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) with scope including propulsion system exhaust and engine responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities
- Perform system level structural assessments
- Test planning and analysis
- Facilitate teamwork between many disciplines (i.e. - manufacturing, quality, engineering, product support, etc.).
- Communicate technical and business results via reports and presentations to senior engineers both within and external to Rolls-Royce.
- Participate in technical reviews, Product Safety Reviews, Technical Life Reviews and Customer Reviews.
- Take an active role in continual improvement of our engineering methods and processes
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 1+ years of related experience OR;
- A Masters degree in Engineering OR
- JD/PhD
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience building and running system models for static and dynamic structural analysis
- Experience with a variety of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) codes including Nastran, Ansys, Dyna3D, NX, and internal Rolls-Royce codes
- Exposure to and/or ability to quickly learn niche mechanical integrity topics, such as rotordynamics and extreme event assessments
- Programming skills such as Matlab, Python, PERL, Fortan, Java, C, C++, and experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) systems
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment; willingness to accept responsibility and take initiative
- Ability to plan and coordinate assigned work with other groups and drive to finish assigned tasks on schedule
