JOB PURPOSE: The Senior Shelter Manager is responsible for overseeing shelter operations while also engaging with the local community and external partners. This role ensures that residents' needs are met, supervises staff, and coordinates outreach activities to improve service delivery. This position acts as the primary liaison between shelters, community organizations, and government agencies.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Supervise daily shelter operations and ensure compliance with agency policies and funder guidelines.

· Monitor and support quality of services delivered to shelter residents.

· Engage with city officials, local organizations, and the public to gather feedback and share shelter-related resources.

· Represent the shelters in community and city meetings and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders.

· Oversees both shelter operations in Austin area.

· Develop and implement shelter procedures, resident schedules, and life skills programming.

· Coordinate and conduct community outreach events, classes, and training sessions.

· Submit timely reports and documentation of operations, incidents, and outreach activities.

· Supervise and evaluate staff performance; provide training and mentorship.

· Order supplies, track expenditures, and monitor program budgets.

· Promote a respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for staff and clients.

· Respond to resident and staff concerns professionally and efficiently.

· Resolve staff conflicts and/or recognize when a conflict must be referred to a higher level.

· Support and implement decisions made by management.

· Organize and facilitate staff meetings as appropriate.

· Completes written reports and documentation of plans, projects, and results.

· Serve as the point of contact for internal leadership and external contracting agencies.

· Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
