Assistant Vice PresidentJob Description Summary
The Assistant Vice President of Residential and Hospitality Services (AVP) is accountable for the University of Pennsylvania's (Penn's) residential, dining, conference, hospitality, and off-campus services, including strategy, business and fiscal management, facilities, and operations. Reporting to Michael D. Scales, Vice President of Business Services, the AVP provides leadership and policy direction for Residential and Hospitality Services (RHS) - one of 17 departments reporting to Mr. Scales- and is responsible for an operating budget of over $60 million.Consistent with the Division of Business Services (BSD) mission, RHS's underlying philosophy is to provide high-quality services in a fiscally responsible manner. The dedicated and innovative professional and student staff of RHS support approximately 6,000 undergraduate students residing in the university's 13 college houses and an off campus services education/referral program. Additionally, the staff of Penn Dining Services - currently managed by Bon Appetit Management Co. (a subsidiary of Compass Group USA) and encompassing members of two collective-bargaining labor unions - are vital members of RHS.
The AVP will work to promote a flexible and responsive department that supports students, departmental staff, and university constituents. Leadership of the AVP portfolio requires close collaboration with Penn College Houses and Academic Services (CHAS), Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES), and other university partners.
