Qorvo’s High Performance Analog (HPA) business unit is a technology and product solutions leader for defense and aerospace applications, wireless and wired communication infrastructure, and power device markets. We have proud roots as a pioneer in RF compound semiconductor development and manufacturing excellence, along with leading domestic packaging services and advanced heterogenous integration research, coupled with circuits and system level expertise, to our wide-ranging commercial and defense customers. In HPA’s Systems and Research organization, we are looking for a technology leader to engage with external customers and internal technologists and stakeholders to develop research and technology development programs and US government/Defense funding opportunities, aligned with HPA’s near-term needs and strategic market direction. The technical areas may include materials and devices, circuits, packaging, and systems within the markets HPA serves. The ideal candidate would be passionate about research and pushing the SOTA forward, by connecting the system benefits and needs to practical technology gaps and needs through strong demonstrated communication and teaming skills. The ability to build an executable plan from a high-level technical project idea is also needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage with Defense agencies and defense prime technical community to understand and shape technical vectors, trends and needs
- Engage and collaborate with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) ranging from technical areas of semiconductor materials, semiconductor devices, advanced packaging, circuits, systems for RF and power, to inform and shape long-term project planning and research direction
- Create presentation and white paper materials with SMEs that are ready for dialogue to guide and shape a potential customer-funded R&D program (CRAD)
- Act as technical proposal manager and lead proposal approach, proposal strategy discussions with the team, discerning through external teaming decisions, by working with diverse mix of collaborators
- Contribute to project execution, report on progress and plans, as appropriate to internal and external audiences
- Grow and strengthen external collaboration networks such as university researchers that are complementary and strategic to Qorvo’s technical interests
- Work effectively across various functional groups in a matrixed organization
- May support proposal writing, create proposed project plans and budgets in a proposal team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS or PhD (Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Material Science)
- ~ 10+ years of technical or managing experience in Research and Technology Development projects in technical areas relevant to Qorvo
- Experienced with proposal writing and submission process for Customer-funded R&D (CRAD) programs
- Highly self-motivated to stay connected with research communities and interact with SMEs to generate ideas and plans to push technology forward
- Effective communication skills including personal communication, presentation, and conducting and leading team meetings
- Demonstrated experience in leading/organizing/planning technical programs
- Must work well across functional teams from design, research, operations, to finance and supply chain
- Solid written communication skills
