Job Description

Business Area Nordics (BA N) is responsible for development, operation and ownership of hydro, onshore wind assets in the Nordic countries. BA N is also responsible for offshore wind development across Northern Europe.

For the role of Senior Sustainability Manager - Offshore Wind for BA N, we are looking for a candidate who has a passion for developing the sustainability agenda for offshore wind projects and a keen interest in driving change within the green transition. In this role, you will be responsible for sustainability (climate, biodiversity/environment, circular economy, social and human rights) across our offshore wind project portfolio. Statkraft is part of several joint venture offshore wind consortiums, and you will be the primary point of contact between the projects and relevant country organisations.

This position provides a great opportunity to take a central and proactive role in a company with a high growth strategy and the firm believe that sustainability is pivotal to our commercial success.

The position reports to VP Sustainability for BA N. The team is newly established and is responsible for providing sustainability support and content advice to the Nordics asset portfolio and to ensure collaboration across the business area and with group functions. 

The position has the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies and plans for projects in line with our corporate sustainability policy.
  • Cooperate with offshore wind joint venture partners on project specific sustainability strategies through project lifecycle, including procuring and following up external providers of expert advice on sustainability matters.
  • Ensure expert advice, guidance and training to offshore wind project teams on sustainability topics such as circular economy, life cycle assessment (LCA) and marine ecosystems.
  • Capture best practices and identify opportunities for enhancing sustainability performance across the offshore wind project portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability standards, regulations and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the reporting and communication of sustainability performance by preparing data, reports, and case studies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social sciences, marine biodiversity, climate management or a related field.
  • A good understanding of the sustainability agenda in the Offshore Wind sector.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a commercial organization.
  • Good knowledge of international sustainability frameworks such as the IFC performance standards, UN Global Compact and OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sustainability programs and initiatives.
  • Understanding of relevant sustainability R&D topics for offshore wind.
  • High personal integrity and ethical standards with strong HSSE understanding and commitment. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language will be an advantage.
