Our team includes licensed attorneys, senior paralegals, and dedicated legal professionals who work together to give clients the services and business outcomes they need to free up the time, capacity, and attention needed to lead and direct legal projects and meet objectives.
As a part of our continued growth, we are seeking a project-based senior-level contract specialist or paralegal for our Virtual Paralegal Service team. This is a 1099 remote/virtual position. Multi-state experience is preferred, but not required. The successful candidate will provide a variety of contract management services to existing and new clients. Construction agreement experience, specifically AIA contracts (Owner and Contractor side), among other commercial agreement experience is required. Experience drafting and redlining contract agreements is required.
Here’s what an ordinary day of work might look like…
- Abstract contracts, build playbooks, review, and redline contracts using track changes in MS Word v10 or higher
- Draft, review, and redline Construction Agreements, Architecture and Design Agreements, Engineering Agreements, Master Service Agreements, Purchase Orders, Statements of Work, and Subcontractor Agreements
- Knowledge of bonds, mechanics liens, and lien waivers
- Communicate regularly with the Practice Area Director/Manager to discuss challenges and successes and share client activity
- Continually develop subject matter expertise
- Maintain performance standards by ensuring availability as necessary to fulfill client-requested needs; ensuring excellent work quality and efficiency; and fulfilling expectations on all essential duties and responsibilities
- Continue to pursue all self-study reading, exercises, and activities regularly; engage in one-on-one training with Practice Area Director/Manager when requested; receive feedback and implement suggestions
- Prepare contractual agreements using current research methods and gain knowledge of a client's needs and have the ability to fulfill its requirements
- Collaborate with a legal team consisting of lawyers, paralegals, executives, and office staff
- Ensure that the terms of contractual agreements are written in language that is legally binding and in accordance with the desires of the client
- Assist clients in interpreting contracts as business needs arise to fulfill the terms of or to terminate contracts on mutually amicable terms
- Review contract terms and conditions to verify that they follow client policies and all applicable federal and state regulations
- Clearly explain contract terminology to clients and other interested parties in simple, everyday language
- Self-monitor progress according to the schedule of completion to submit drafts and documents in a timely manner
- Proofread, edit, and fact-check legal documents for accuracy and consistency, according to a style guide if provided by the client
- Research regulations to ensure contracts are updated and in compliance with laws
What you will need to be successful
- Minimum of ten years of specialized experience as a construction contract specialist or paralegal
- Experience with one or more software platforms including but not limited to platforms for virtual interactions (i.e., Teams and/or Zoom), contract repositories, CRMs, and timekeeping systems
- Advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite v.10 or above
- Competent with Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Training and/or certifications as a contract specialist or paralegal
