The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Cardiology at the University of Washington invites applications for two clinical practice faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor of Clinical Practice. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidates will join our faculty on a twelve-month full-time basis for a term of 3 years beginning October 2027.
As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.
The successful candidates will be expected to
- Perform a wide range of non-invasive cardiac imaging modalities including transthoracic, transesophageal, 3D-echo, strain, fetal and cross sectional imaging.
- Perform and interpret imaging and physiologic data needed to understand underlying pre and postoperative simple and complex cardiac congenital pathologies in neonates, children, and adults.
- Serve as an attending physician in the Echocardiography Laboratory at Seattle Children's Hospital. Timely completion of echocardiogram interpretation and reporting of results with appropriate communication to referring providers.
- Participate in task forces and committees as requested by the applicable service line or Seattle Children's Leadership.
Clinical Care:
- Participate in outpatient, inpatient cardiology and consultation.
- Provide excellent clinical care and in the process, supports safe, efficient and high-quality services.
- Ensure appropriate coordination and integration with other services in the care of their patients,
- Engage with consultants and other providers in a multi-disciplinary model of care.
Planning:
- Work with administrative and clinical leaders to support quality and performance improvement to ensure that program goals are attained.
- Participate in task forces and committees, as applicable to Service line or Seattle Children's Leadership.
Regulatory:
- Support timely review of any patient safety events.
- Respond in a timely manner to physician or patient related feedback or complaints.
- Support legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Participate regularly in physician variability documentation and IAC conferences to maintain lab accreditation.
- Support and participate in M&M program and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Provide input to continuing education activities designed to maintain and enhance competencies.
- Maintain professionalism with regards to billing, documentation, conference attendance and collaboration with peers, trainees, staff, patients, and families.
Research:
- Identify opportunities and actively participate in scientific investigations and collaborations.
- Maintain academic productivity commensurate for rank and for the Clinician-Scholar.
Education:
- Support cardiac clinical educational programs for sonographers, medical students, residents, fellows and nursing.
- Provide advanced clinical and research training for non-invasive cardiac imaging fellow.
- Participate and contributes to quality improvement projects and/or curriculum development.
Candidates will be considered across a range of interests in non-invasive imaging, including echocardiography, fetal, and cross-sectional imaging.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $22,589 - $27,336 per month ($271,068 - $328,032 annually), Associate Professor range: $26,661 - $31,974 per month ($319,932 - $383,688 annually), Professor range: $32,858 - $41,175 per month ($394,296 - $494,100 annually), com
