Your role:

The Senior Project Manager is end responsible for the project governance and related policies and procedures, proper planning, prioritization and active project management of highly complex IT project portfolio. You are also playing a pivotal role in leading cross-functional teams to execute high-impact projects using agile methodologies, with JIRA and Confluence as the primary project management tools.

Your expertise in agile processes, team leadership, and managing project timelines, budgets, and risks will ensure that we deliver exceptional results aligned with business goals. This role requires an experienced professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is skilled at using JIRA and Confluence to drive project visibility, communication, and collaboration.

First and foremost, the Senior Project Manager will ensure the roadmaps/plans focus on agreed business priorities and dependencies based on business needs, and delivers against the shared objectives and main activities with key milestones that have been agreed upon. To this end, the Senior Project Manager will support business case creation, drive key requirements gathering from business & stakeholders scope work, institutionalize governance, planning and cadence for the portfolio or project(s).

The Senior Project Manager will lead by example in ensuring the project(s) are proactively lead and managed in a consistent quality manner, whilst working with business units & functions to ensure timely decisions and mitigations are in place to support the company and department objectives.

The Senior Project Manager will also actively contribute to establish and maintain the Project Management Office in GarantiBBVA International.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead highly complex strategic or critical projects (e.g. complex change / transformational initiatives within the organisation, mainly software projects).

• Lead by example on Project management craft best practices and behaviours. Provide thought leadership, advice & support on Project Management Office including setting high quality standards both within the department as well as influence outside.
• Set priorities, creates the planning and allocates resources within the PMO, according to strategic priorities.
• Assigns tasks to Project Manager, follow-up their progress and finalization
• Responsible to manage every phase of very complex companywide projects, specifically:
  • Drive vision for projects towards clear business objectives, scope, requirements & success criteria, including the identification of opportunities to improve the impact & experience for our customers, translating into business cases and getting buy-in from leadership
  • Create clear planning documents together with involved departments
  • Proactive identification and management of relevant dependencies (both within as well as cross departments and 3rd parties) in order to minimize risks and challenges.
  • Regular tracking and reporting status and progress of all streams of work, highlighting where required, risk/issues to governance groups or team members
  • Enables teams & leaders to make quality decisions and support in prioritization exercises
  • Defines, executes and maintain internal and external governance, with objective of creating transparency and facilitate decision making through clear processes and accountability
  • Work in partnership with business units and functions leadership to ensure resources are allocated to the right work, within headcount and budget.
• Agile Project Management: Lead and manage multiple projects using agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.), ensuring effective sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release planning. Ensure that teams are empowered and equipped to work efficiently.
• JIRA/Confluence Management: Use JIRA to manage project workflows, track progress, assign tasks, and ensure transparency across all teams. Create and manage Confluence documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing, project updates, and process documentation.
• Team Collaboration: Facilitate agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.) and promote effective communication and collaboration across development, product, and business teams. Mentor and support team members t
