Job Summary:
Western Midstream is seeking a Staff Facililities Designer located in The Woodlands office. The position will focus on the execution and management of design projects related to the oil and gas industry including pipelines and facilities. This will include organization and planning of the overall design effort and could include monitoring and direction of junior designers and draftsmen.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical/process piping design
- Petrochemical refinery/chemical/pipeline industry experience
- Experience with equipment layout/piping and pipe support design & construction packages
- Orthographics/Isometrics/3-D models
- A strong understanding of the piping codes & standards including API, PIP, and ASME
- Ability to work in heavy industrial environments.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes/practices
Responsibilities:
- Proficient at AutoCAD, including CadWORX Suite, Navisworks, & the Microsoft Office software platform
- Experience with PFD and P&ID development
- Knowledge in the translation & transition from P&ID’s to piping design documents.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of piping and plant layout drawings and documents that include general arrangements, orthographics, isometrics and overall 3-D design.
- Detailed understanding of 3-D design approaches including such fundamentals as layering, libraries, etc.
- Knowledge in developing complete mechanical systems & piping related drawing sets as part of construction packages.
- Core understanding of multi-dimensional disciplines
- Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings and technical literature from third party vendors.
- Ability to create and manage documents such as piping indexes, valve lists, installation details, utility details & manifolds, location details, pipe hangar details, specialty details, pipe shoes, and other pipe stress-related information. (Pipe stress performed by pipe stress engineers – designer implements in the design based on guidance)
Non-Technical Skills
- Ability to optimize design, educate engineers on the best approach.
- Ability to prioritize tasks by frequency and importance.
- Ability to supervise, coach, and mentor other designers and engineers.
- Ability to estimate hours for projects part of project scope and cost development.
- Ability to execute design only projects.
- Attention to detail with strong technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining project files and information received from clients and vendors.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree or Technical Vocation Training preferred in AutoCAD or related field.
Certification/Licenses:
CAD Certificate or training not required but nice to have.
Travel Requirements:
Travel will be required up to 15%.
Work Schedule:
This position will work 9 hours Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in an office environment and remotely 9 hours on Wednesday and 4 hours on Friday.
