Summary
Spire is seeking an Area Manager, System Planning to work in St. Louis, MO. The position will be responsible for the review and approval of engineering design studies using a computer-based model of the Spire natural gas distribution piping systems. This includes a review of modeling studies and providing recommendations to other groups within the Spire network. This position will also have on-call responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and provide guidance for the System Planning staff's hydraulic studies of the Company's various pressure networks
- Evaluate and approve proposed sizing of new gas mains and services – for new residential, commercial, and industrial opportunities, as well as replacement and relocation of existing gas facilities, with insight on present and future impacts to the hydraulic system
- Lead and prioritize hydraulic model building in Synergi Gas
- Review and approve a multitude of internal and external requests and applications, including those pertaining to elevated delivery pressure, bypass sizing, load addition, economic development, emergency leak, and damage repair, Gas Interruption Procedures, and regulator sizing
- Delegate, review, and approve the strategic replacement analyses of the team to ensure safe, efficient, quality work prior to releasing to other departments across Spire territories
- Analyze and approve easement release exhibits and other ROW encroachment inquiries for conflict
- Collaborate effectively with personnel from all involved departments, including Operations Services, Field Operations, and others, to ensure the prioritization and timely completion of work
- Effectively manage long-term growth studies and submit reinforcement recommendations to adequately serve additional customers in a timely manner and with consideration for upstream supply capacities and other operational constraints
- All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise all engineers within the department
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Valid State Driver’s License
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- Six or more years of related engineering experience
- Three or more years of experience in the application of system design concepts and system studies with Spire’s gas modeling software preferred
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- Hybrid remote work schedule allows for 2 days remote and 3 days in office
- Work is normally performed in a shared office environment•
- Work hours are typically 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through F
