Position Summary:

The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is seeking an experienced Senior Vice President of School Age Services to lead our school-age childcare programs across municipal and outward school districts. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of program management, budgeting, staff development, family and community engagement, and the strategic growth of school-age services. As a member of the Association Leadership Team, the Senior Vice President of School Age Services will play a vital role in shaping organizational strategy and ensuring alignment with the YMCA’s mission and goals. This leader will drive enrollment, retain participants, foster a positive staff culture, ensure compliance with child care licensing standards, and build strong relationships with community and district partners. 

Essential Functions:

Leadership and Strategy: 

  • Serve as a member of the Association Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making to advance YMCA’s mission. 
  • Lead strategic planning and execution for all school-age services, ensuring alignment with YMCA mission, vision, and organizational goals. 
  • Develop and implement policies and programs that enhance service quality, operational excellence, and support strategic growth. 

Program Management and Growth Strategy: 

  • Oversee operations of school-age childcare sites across municipal and outward school districts, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements and YMCA standards. 
  • Design and implement strategies to drive enrollment, retain participants, and promote program growth to meet organizational goals. 
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed to maintain high service quality and participant satisfaction. 

Budgeting and Financial Management: 

  • Develop and manage the annual budget for school-age services, ensuring financial accountability and adherence to approved budgets. 
  • Collaborate with finance teams to forecast needs, monitor expenses, and ensure cost-effective use of resources. 

Staff Management and Development: 

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of full and part-time staff, fostering a positive, fun, and engaging work environment that supports professional growth, team cohesion, and retention. 
  • Develop team-building activities and initiatives that promote a vibrant, positive culture, encouraging staff enthusiasm and motivation. 
  • Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and evaluations to ensure high performance, accountability, and a sense of community within the team.  

Community, District, Family, and Staff Engagement: 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school districts, municipal leaders, and community partners to promote YMCA programs and identify opportunities for collaboration. 
  • Develop and implement family engagement strategies to encourage active family involvement and foster supportive connections between families and the YMCA. 
  • Organize family-centered events, workshops, and communications to keep families informed, engaged, and connected to their children’s experiences. 
  • Act as a primary representative of the YMCA to external stakeholders, advocating for the organization’s school-age services and expanding partnerships. 

Risk Management and Compliance: 

  • Ensure all sites meet or exceed child care licensing standards, YMCA policies, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Implement and monitor risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for children, staff, and families. 

Other Duties as Assigned: 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sr. Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer to support the overall goals and operations of the YMCA.

Work Environment

This position is based in Memphis, TN, with occasional travel throughout the Mid-South region. Flexibility is required to attend events, meetings, and other activities as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
