Job Summary:

Leads and assists shipping and receiving workers (Shipping Clerk I & II) in shipping and receiving activities. Act as backup Supervisor for the department as needed/required. Monitor incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. This position is also responsible for performing Shipping Clerk functions to properly pick, pack, ship and receive all products and materials and must be able to plan and execute the functions independently with minimal supervision and lead others within the team. Additional responsibilities will include: assistance with creating SOP and other shipping-related documentation, inventory data-entry and cross-training into other job functions as needed. This position requires routine attendance to departmental, safety and Company meetings.

Shipping Lead Functions:

• Consults with Shipping Supervisor to clarify department priorities, identify problems and suggest changes for improvement
• Check new orders via computer and schedule pick-up dates with carriers
• Determines shipping priorities and & distributes workload/orders for the Shipping Clerks accordingly
• Assign special wrapping/skidding, gluing tasks appropriately
• Communicate with Shipping personnel as well as other department personnel with any concerns, questions or issues
• Monitor Epicor processing for proper shipping and invoicing
• Properly train all new and existing employees on departmental procedures; train all Shipping employees on Epicor to include updates
• Perform weekly Standard work audits
• Ensure employees follow proper safety procedures in the completion of tasks including fork lift driving
• Work with Supply Chain on subcontracted products requiring shipping, receiving, issuing and processing
• Create Shipping paperwork for other departments
• Order all materials and supplies for department to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
• Assist in interviewing and hiring of new Shipping employees
• Assist in completing OJT’s for all Shipping employees
• Assist supervisor with semi and annual performance reviews for Shipping Clerks
• Act as backup Shipping Supervisor during vacation or absences

Shipping Clerk Functions (performed with minimal supervision using a handheld scanner and/or computer):

• Assist in order preparation for UPS/FedEx
• Interface with production on floor to ensure smooth shipment of material
• Perform Packing/Shipping/Receiving functions as outlined for Shipping Clerk I as needed
• Ensure Safety and report any incidents
• Pre- and post-auditing to ensure 6S compliance
• Handle Internal and External customer requests daily
• Participating in Lean Events.
• Calling and scheduling customer pickups.
• Giving instructions and communicating with drivers on a daily basis

Operate fork truck to lift/transport raw materials and finished products while adhering to all power industrial equipment rules and safety requirements

E 10% Adhere to and follow all quality guidelines. Continually check materials and orders to ensure accuracy.

Maintain clean and orderly work environment; maintain fork truck by completing proper inspection and reporting any maintenance issues immediately to supervisor and maintenance department

S 5% Cross-train into other job functions providing assistance as necessary or during downtime within the department


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School Diploma/GED or 4 years of shipping/receiving or manufacturing experience required
• Minimum 12-months previous shipping experience consistently exceeding expectations in the position
• 12-months fork truck experience
