JOB GOAL:
The Child Nutrition Field Supervisor will oversee and provide direction to employees in the child nutrition department; to monitor assigned personnel to ensure jobs are performed in a safe and efficient manner and food preparation practices meet safety and sanitation standards; to ensure prepared foods meet USDA nutritional requirements, department quality standards, and are served in a manner that is pleasing to the customer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education required with additional course work in food service management and/or nutrition preferred
- Valid Arizona driver's license with proof of insurance and ability and willingness to drive own vehicle to various locations.
- Three years experience in school food service highly recommended.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise budgeting, accounting, and purchasing functions pertaining to food service operations.
- Demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with administration and cafeteria staff.
- Ability to maintain a safe work environment for self and others.
- Proficiency in English and general communication skills (oral and written) for providing work directions, and interacting with staff, students, and administration.
- Working knowledge of large scale food production, quantity cooking and inventory management.
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, Email, etc) and ability to train assigned personnel in the use of these programs.
- Willingness to participate in professional growth activities.
- SNA credential preferred.
- Valid Maricopa County Manager's Certificate or ability to obtain one within 3 months.
- Must pass a background clearance
- Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 223 Days; 11 Months
COMPENSATION: Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position
BENEFITS: As per QCUSD District policy
REPORTS TO: Director of Child Nutrition
HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-exempt
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Create a positive environment to provide quality customer service and retention of food service staff
- Direct child nutrition workers and other personnel as assigned to maximize the efficiency of the work force and to meet labor requirements
- Implement menu plans to meet USDA's National School Lunch and Breakfast requirements
- Oversee safety and sanitation procedures to maintain standards required by Maricopa County Environmental Services.
- Oversee the preparation of food and beverage items to meet projected meal requirements and nutritional components
- Perform functions as required of another position within area of responsibility to provide overall coverage of food service operation
- Prepare documentation (e.g. production reports, audits, inventory, site visits, etc) to provide written support and/or convey information
- Respond to inquiries of student, district personnel and the public to provide information
- Train and evaluate job performance of assigned personnel to achieve success in the child nutrition program
- Establish and implement procedures for adequate control of foods, supplies, equipment, and labor.
- Monitor the preparation of accurate reports in food, labor, and operating costs.
- Monitor income and expenditures and compare to budget on a regular basis.
- Develop and implement a plan for professional growth and certification for the child nutrition staff providing appropriate in-service training.
- Determine facility needs and assist in planning the physical structure of the child nutrition service facilities.
- Maintain effective working relationships with appropriate members of all departments in the District.
- Keep Director of Child Nutrition apprised of cafeteria operations on a regular basis.
- Consult and resolve with site administrators any problems of mutual concern involving the child nutrition services or personnel.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and in-service training.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
