Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing (MEP) Inspector

Arcadis is looking for an experienced Mechanical/ Electrical / Plumbing (MEP) Inspector to join our growing Northern California Construction Management team! This position is a full-time on-site project role that will be based out of our San Francisco office.

Role description:

The Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing (MEP) Inspector will support a variety of MEP construction projects that may include water/wastewater, chemical or manufacturing including piping, equipment and instrumentation construction; electrical power distribution systems conduit and wiring; voice/tele/data systems; instrumentation and control systems; plumbing; HVAC installation and commissioning of Plant systems.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in coordination of trade work inspections, special inspections, and contractor QA/QC inspections, reviewing and responding to Contractor RFI’s and as-built drawing preparation and review.  The MEP Inspector will work closely with Assistant Resident Engineers, senior inspectors, Contractor superintendents, design team representatives and other CM Team staff.

Role accountabilities:

• Provide overall quality of work, testing procedures, inspection protocols, construction techniques and timely completion of daily inspection activities and will be responsible for inspection of materials used on projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and ordinances.
• Review plans for assigned projects, observes, and inspects construction work performed by others and attends pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, and safety meetings.
• Provide coordination of information both written and verbal, to contractors, client staff, Arcadis staff, and outside agencies.
• Perform quantity estimates, and review of submittals and other construction documents.
• Reviews submittals and other construction documents and recommends technical solutions.
• Perform daily and punch list inspections, prepare daily reports, and participate in project schedule and invoice reviews.
• Maintains quality assurance requirements and manages field inspection and monitoring code compliance issues.
• Uses basic knowledge of cost trends, change management, claims, and other construction-related matters to ensure compliance with project standards and those put forth in other contract documents for timely completion and quality product.
• While performing daily inspection of active projects, Inspector will be required to monitor project safety guidelines. Any noncompliant activities will be reported to the Chief Inspector or Assistant Resident Engineer.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ or more years of commercial MEP construction inspection/construction management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years inspection/construction management experience in water/wastewater or similar process system construction is preferred.
• BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a plus.
• Professional license (e.g., EIT/PE or GIT/PG).
• Professional certification such as LEED, CCM or NICET.
• Inspection experience in water/wastewater, chemical or manufacturing facilities including piping, equipment and instrumentation construction; electrical power distribution systems conduit and wiring; voice/tele/data systems; instrumentation and control systems plumbing; HVAC installation and commissioning of Plant systems.
