As a team member of Penn Dental Medicine's Office of Clinical Affairs, the CONTROLLED MEDICATIONS & INVENTORY COORDINATOR ensures controlled medication compliance with regulatory requirements as well as supports inventory supply processes and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

CONTROLLED MEDICATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as coordinator for controlled medication ensuring overall compliance with regulatory requirements and communicating findings to the Penn Dental Medicine (PDM) Office of Clinical Affairs and departments.
  • Documents, monitors and manages logs of all individuals who are receiving, accessing, dispensing, wasting, and/or administering controlled medications at PDM.
  • Assigns, tracks, and monitors compliance with all required training for all individuals involved in receiving, accessing, dispensing, wasting, and/or administering controlled medications at PDM.
  • Collaborates with PDM DEA registrant to maintain current Power of Attorney for all individuals accessing, completing, and handling DEA Form 222.
  • Conducts inspections of controlled medication inventories and logs as needed and at a minimum on a weekly basis, and ensures they are complete and accurate.
  • Monitors and manages expired controlled medications as well as broken/contaminated/damaged/lost controlled medications used in PDM for oral, intravenous, and general anesthesia. Reports all controlled medication log discrepancies to the Office of Clinical Affairs.
  • Reconciles inventories monthly with invoices for controlled medications received by and billed to PDM.
  • Monitors and manages inventories and supplies required for controlled medication inventory in the Sedation Suite and Oral Surgery Clinic.
