Roles and Responsibilities
- Executes production according to the appropriate instructions. Ensure productivity and output meet expectations regarding Delivery and Quality. Establish team goals that meet or exceed established quality standards. Monitor and improve productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality, and cost-conscious manner. Create and implement strategies and objectives for functional areas which align with broader goals and priorities.
- Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals, and support personnel. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
- Ensure processes are implemented and followed to track and report metrics in their functional area to include work order completion, inventory accuracy, throughput, capacity, and customer complaints.
- Responsible for the financial planning aspects for assigned functions which include development and management of operational budgets, cost out projects, cost control and labor reporting.
- Manage and lead workforce activities for function, to include the development and implementation of training plans which support and maximize workforce capability. ensure skills and knowledge of staff align with needs, and ensure organizational structure supports functional requirements. Manage labor issues, coaching, and counseling for workforce as needed. Ensure any employment actions are timely and adherent to legal requirements.
- Ensure the assigned functional area operates and adheres to expected safety standards, ensure staff have all required safety certifications and training, drive accountability to safety requirements, support safety initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.
- Leading Compliance, as well as Environmental, Health & Safety efforts in support of plant goals.
- Driving LEAN manufacturing implementation.
- Drive collaboration with other areas to ensure consistency, generate continuous improvement ideas and implement best practices that lead to bottom line results. Collaborate with other functional leaders to ensure resources and materials are properly provided and align with department needs, which includes the workflow of process engineers to support and optimize plant capabilities and Material functions to ensure proper inventory and delivery of parts.
- Drive and ensure a high level of employee relations and engagement for the area. Drive a culture of fairness, consistency, and servant- leadership.
- Implement and sustain meaningful engagement. Ensure daily connection with staff, maintain presence in functional areas, and be available to assist if needed.
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback to all direct reports with monthly 1-1 meetings.
- Conduct Roundtable meetings new members under your organization, including quarterly meetings with floor leaders and every 6 months with all hourly/other team members.
