Amazon Robotics automates fulfillment center operations using various methods of robotic technology including autonomous mobile robots, sophisticated control software, language perception, power management, computer vision, depth sensing, machine learning, object recognition, and semantic understanding of commands. Amazon Robotics internship/co-op/full-time opportunities will be based out of the Greater Boston Area in our two state-of-the-art facilities in Westborough, MA and North Reading, MA. Both campuses provide a unique opportunity to have direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities.
Key job responsibilities
Amazon Robotics (AR) is looking for a motivated business intelligence engineer co-op to analyze data sets, build dashboards, and deliver business reports focused on the performance of AR Sortation Solutions. A successful co-op candidate will be able to identify the right datasets for the problem statement and work with subject matter experts to provide deep dive analysis into the root cause of problems. While we don't assume mastery in all areas, successful team members have the willingness to learn new skills and the ability to effectively communicate with and influence decision-makers at all levels. Candidates should have a background in business analytics, data science, data visualization, and/or data engineering. Amazon Robotics’ culture encourages innovation and expects co-ops to take a high level of ownership in solving complex problems.
The Co-op will be responsible for:
- Writing queries to pull data needed with standard query syntax; periodically identify more advanced methods of query optimization. Convert data to make it analysis ready.
- Using a combination of unified and disparate data sources to uncover insights that are delivered through decision-driving analytics white-papers and automated data visualizations
- Identify process and system improvement opportunities by monitoring existing metrics, analyzing data, and partnering with internal and operational teams
- Manage and execute projects from start to finish including data gathering and manipulation, statistical modeling, and communication of insights and recommendations
About the team
The Amazon Robotics Sortation Analytics team discovers insights in vast and varied robotic data to help our engineering teams understand how their technologies operate across Amazon’s network of warehouses. We collaborate with designers, software and hardware engineers, and operations teams to understand product requirements, make feature trade-offs, design, and operate new applications of Amazon Robotics technology. We conduct relevant, insightful analysis and communicate the results through white papers and presentations. Our methods include design of experiments, statistical modeling, machine learning, financial analysis, and data visualization.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
North Reading, MA, USA
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctorate degree in analytically rigorous field (Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Econometrics) or other equivalent discipline at an accredited US higher education institution with a graduation date of August 2024 or later
- Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h / week) between January 2024 to June 2024 in the United States
- Write complex, high-quality SQL queries to retrieve and analyze large datasets
- Basic understanding of Python, R or other relevant scripting language
- Experience using quantitative methods to evaluate product/system/service performance
- Experience building dashboards in Tableau or other relevant data visualization tool (Looker, PowerBI, Grafana, etc.)
- Interest in data science and statistical analysis
- Understanding of ETL processes
- Previous experience in business
