About the role
Cloudflare’s Director, Accounting Operations is responsible for driving accounting and finance system implementations, process transformation, continuous improvement, project management, and business analysis in the accounting and finance function. This role will be responsible for leading, managing, and supporting large, complex finance transformation initiatives, including large system implementations, that are highly visible and critical to the business. The Director, Accounting Operations will provide strategic thought leadership, drive execution and lead collaborative teaming across different groups. Role will function as the internal point of contact for key business functions that participate in finance transformation initiatives.
The key objective of this position is to build structure, governance and process around complex finance transformation initiatives to ensure the successful execution and implementation, as well as implementing continuous improvement initiatives to ensure our systems, processes and teams scale along with our business.
What you'll do
- Assist in the development of a comprehensive strategy for automation across the accounting and finance function and the prioritization of initiatives within the roadmap to ensure support of the company's growth initiatives.
- Focus on transformational initiatives that will enable departmental functions to improve both efficiency and control through process optimization
- Lead or serve as a key participant in groups responsible for executing on specific transformation project initiatives and goals, specifically as it relates to large system implementations
- Create and maintain the prioritization of projects based on specific criteria and roadmap
- Assemble and deliver ongoing communication to key stakeholders at all levels around the business transformation progress
- Collaborate to ensure project management for key defined initiatives within each team with a clear project plan with deliverables and dependencies defined
- Prepare and deliver reports which address the current status of the projects within accounting with clear accountability of follow-ups and escalations
- Develop a culture of agility, innovation, and continuous learning to achieve deliverables aligned to business outcomes
- Balance multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines
- Enable reporting that includes management dashboards, metrics process improvements and enable complex problem solving
Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience
- 10+ years experience in project management and implementation, program management, change management, and business systems experience (including ERP implementation)
- Experience with business process management to include process definition and end to end process mapping
- Good understanding of general accounting concepts, processes, and terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; must be comfortable connecting and communicating with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Demonstrated team leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members for exceptional performance and contribution
- Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, bring options and provide recommendation
- Strong knowledge of SOX requirements, including the ability to assess, develop and implement internal controls relat
