Job Description
The Senior Manager, Compliance & Risk will lead a team of analysts and be responsible for the design and execution of a risk-based monitoring and quality control program that drives risk identification, mitigation, and continuous improvement across the business. Reporting to the Vice President, Head of Lending Compliance & Risk Management, this highly visible role will provide strategic leadership across lending businesses and shared service functions.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver with the ability to design and execute complex monitoring initiatives, partner with stakeholders, and leverage data-driven insights to enhance risk management practices.
THE ROLE: Specific job duties/responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop and maintain an effective team of compliance and risk analysts.
- Design and execute a comprehensive risk-based monitoring and quality control program.
- Partner with business leaders, product managers, and data analysts to identify emerging risks and recommend effective control enhancements.
- Analyze complex business processes and leverage data to guide conclusions and drive improvements.
- Present findings, recommendations, and solutions to senior leadership with clarity and influence.
- Collaborate across functions to ensure alignment with enterprise risk management and compliance requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance monitoring, risk assessment, and issue remediation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 7–10 years of financial services compliance, risk management, or audit experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- 7+ years of experience applying financial services laws, rules, and regulations to lending products and services, including identifying gaps, assessing risk levels, and designing effective solutions.
- 5+ years of experience using omnichannel contact center solutions to support risk management, including rules-based analytics (experience with Genesys, Cresta, Call Miner, or similar tools is a plus).
- 3+ years of technical experience leveraging software-based solutions to transform and analyze data (experience with Power BI, Python, Tableau, or similar coding/BI tools is a plus).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to indirectly influence stakeholders outside of direct reporting lines.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively, solve problems creatively, and operate with a high level of integrity.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop both tactical and strategic solutions.
- Strong project management skills, with proven ability to coordinate across multiple departments and functions.
- Ability to negotiate, influence, and resolve issues collaboratively across business and functional teams.
- Ability to identify key risks within business processes to inform a risk-based monitoring strategy and plan.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and analyze large data sets, identify trends, perform root cause analysis, and deliver actionable reporting to senior leadership.
- Proven experience designing and executing monitoring activities and insights projects to deepen understanding of operational processes.
- Experience in a leadership capacity, preferably in a high-volume call center environment.
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office and Google products.
- Strict attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality work and review others’ outputs for accuracy.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Self-starter with strong ownership, able to drive initiatives to resolution while escalating and reporting appropriately.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced secondary degree or professional certification (e.g., CRCM, CERP)
- Prior experience with external regulators and third-party audit providers
- Data visualization knowledge on presenting actionable data and analysis
