ROLE SUMMARY
The purpose of the role is to lead the development and implementation of AI Enablement and Professional Development learning journeys for Medical Affairs, with a global remit. This individual is responsible for implementing leadership development and AI fluency programs that will provide colleagues with the necessary skills and knowledge to lead our organization into the future. The Medical Academy AI Enablement and Professional Development Director is expected to have relationships with senior leaders within Pfizer Medical Affairs as well as People Experience and Digital. The position has a broad impact throughout the organization and requires a medical professional with a passion for learning & development, strategic thinking skills, leadership ability, and an understanding of the evolving role of medical affairs leadership within and outside of Pfizer.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic thinking:
- Execute the strategic vision of Medical Academy, aligned with the broader objectives of the Medical Academy Team and the Medical Engagement and Impact Team
- Leveraging expertise:
- To act as a single point of contact between the Medical Academy Team, People Experience, Digital, Learning & Development, and Medical Affairs leadership in all BUs and regions.
- To critically evaluate and continuously improve the leadership and AI competencies and skills necessary for Medical Affairs.
- Drive innovation:
- Lead efforts to drive innovation in learning and development through the implementation of new technologies, approaches, and learning modalities.
- To identify and disseminate best practices and initiatives globally, and across categories.
- Driving operational excellence:
- Accountable for delivery of leadership development and AI Enablement training sessions, workshops, and coaching programs for all levels of medical affairs colleagues, from entry-level to senior leaders.
- Responsible for facilitating other training for colleague development based on unmet needs and priority
- Proactively identifying opportunities to improve the learning experience for the learners.
- Establish metrics to track the effectiveness of the program and assess program outcomes
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure access to best practices and cutting-edge leadership tools and resources
- Stakeholder Management and collaboration:
- Collaborating with key stakeholders across the organization, such as the Regional Medical Affairs Leadership, broader Medical Engagement and Impact Team, and other relevant teams to ensure alignment and integration of learning program design and delivery.
- Managing resources effectively:
- Ensuring that resources, including budget, are managed effectively to support the goals and objectives of the program.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Bachelor's degree required with 8+ years OR master’s degree with 7+ years OR terminal doctoral degree and 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience required
- Very strong communication and relationship-building capacity
- Strong strategic mindset, understanding of medical affairs
- Demonstration of leading large learning initiatives
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and mastery of working in a matrix environment
- Executive presence and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization

- Strong project and time management and organizational skills
- Passion for organizational/leadership development
- Previous field medical or medical affairs experience
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and needs of the modern learner
- Demonstrated track record of strong networking and working collaboratively across functions and geographies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in a health science
- Experience in designing leadership/development programs
- Experience in learning and development and skills, and competencies and capabilities building
