Summary

The Production Operator 2 - Support position is an introductory role.  The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for learning a variety of entry level tasks in each department so that they can assist where needed on the floor.  This will allow the candidate to learn about each department and develop competencies to open career pathways within the site.  This is a First Shift position. 

Detailed Description

Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments. Tasks are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.  Works under close supervision.  Situations not covered by standard procedures are referred to a higher level. May demonstrate work methods to new employees.  Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in routine exchanges of information; interactions with external contact, if applicable, would be monitored

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Completes entry level tasks in Quality, Engineering, IT, and Production in order to quickly resolve the most common and time consuming issues that affect production.  

  • Supports production by proactively handling minor issues that frequently arise and by learning new tasks to improve the efficiency of the Technicians in each department. 

  • Assists in providing maintenance and repair of facilities systems and structures to support the efficient manufacturing and processing of products.

  • Manages time between completing tasks and helping with Production depending on daily priorities and availability of work. 

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Approaches new challenges with a positive, independent attitude.  Works well with others and thrives in an environment with competing priorities.  Always searching for new tasks and willing to pitch in where needed.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal customers.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, electromechanical and pneumatic systems and principles of operation.

  • Knowledge of quality standards.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
  • Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand/eye coordination, sitting and/or standing in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
  • Duties may require periodic heavy manual effort including lifting objects.
  • Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
  • Above demands are carried out within the company and statutory health and safety guidelines.

Typical Experience

  • This is an introductory position.  Some Production Operator experience preferred. 

Typical Education

  • High School or equivalent (Basic numeracy and Literacy).
  • Educational Requirements may vary by geography
