Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
We are hiring for three full-time, seasonal positions located in Springfield, Oregon. It is anticipated that these seasonal positions will last from July 20, 2026 through November 20, 2026.
NOTE: These are estimated dates. Length of season(s) may be shortened or extended depending on project needs, funding, or factors beyond the project’s control).
What you will do:
In these positions, you will assist in the implementation of the Upper Willamette Bull Trout Project. You will conduct field surveys including snorkeling, spawning surveys, and fish capture using angling, screw traps, and other methods to monitor bull trout and other co-occurring species. You will operate and maintain PIT tag detection systems, safely handle and tag ESA-listed fish. You will also enter field data into spreadsheets and databases and perform quality control on data records.

What we are looking for:
Minimum qualifications are not established for these positions; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:
Experience handling and identifying fish species
Survey experience, especially spawning surveys
GPS experience
Outdoor or back country skills (recreational or professional)
Experience collecting and recording data
