Overview
The Senior Manager/Director, Origination is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with all market participants and relevant end-users. The position will be responsible for sourcing and structuring offtake agreements including PPAs, Utility RFPs, bilateral offtake agreements.
This position will work closely with the entire Revenue team as well as other members of the Development and Finance teams at Cypress Creek Renewables. The position will enjoy extensive opportunity to support the company’s growth by delivering renewable energy solutions to its customers across the country. The position will provide critical insight into the needs of customers to help focus the Company’s customer led development strategy and product innovation. One of the following experiences is a requirement, multiple is a major plus
- Experience originating and negotiating bilateral, term transactions in multiple power markets
- Experience trading term markets
- Significant Regulatory or commercial experience with available Green Tariffs structures
- Experience supplying load customers in ISO/RTO or non-ISO/RTO markets
Responsibilities
- Develop Origination strategy in the market
- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers
- Contribute to marketing efforts and customer outreach to communicate key attributes of potential product offerings
- Utilize the Company’s greenfield pipeline and existing fleet of solar and battery storage assets to structure value added products for customers
- Support the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of long-term PPAs, VPPAs and innovative commercial structures with corporate customers across the country to facilitate the development of solar and energy storage, while meeting customers’ needs for sustainability and carbon free goals
- Identify customer opportunities and own the pricing, structuring, and negotiation of offtake agreements, primarily PPAs
- Manage our growing transmission position in the Western Interconnect as it related to customer needs, existing and future offtake
- Supplement Origination team’s external presence, representing the company to potential commercial & industrial customers in bilateral meetings and at customer events.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Revenue, Development, Project Finance, Fleet and Solutions teams
- Prepare internal analysis, memos and presentations.
- Stay in tune with trends impacting the future of renewable development and their impact on customer business opportunities
Qualifications
- 8-10 years of work experience with a renewable developer, power marketing firm, corporate energy end-user, utility, or consultant with direct customer engagement experience in the region
- Experience structuring bilateral offtake in the regulated or unregulated power markets
- Extensive network of potential customers
- Knowledge of Western US energy markets or ERCOT, PJM, New England
- Understanding of RTO operations and electric transmission
- Knowledge of physical transmission system, procurement of necessary long-term transmission needed to enable generation projects
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area required
- Experience leading contractual analysis and proposal submissions
- Demonstrated ability to originate, structure, negotiate and implement PPAs coordinating with the customer, internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Able to identify and formulate risks management strategies for various offtake structures
- Strong commercial capabilities to balance customer and business needs
- Professional presence and strong communication skills.
- Understanding of renewable generation technology, especially solar and battery storage
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed
Compensation: The salary range for the position is $160,000-$230,000 plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
