Job Description

The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will ensure compliance with import, export, and supply chain regulations and requirements.  This role is responsible for overseeing and executing all Syracuse daily trade compliance operations and providing guidance/direction to all worldwide INFICON sales organizations with all matters relating to trade compliance and transportation.  The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will work to broaden the awareness of the trade compliance program and will work closely with colleagues overseas to help align INFICON trade policies with a changing regulatory environment. 

  • Monitor and maintain the trade compliance program for Syracuse location and all INFICON sales organizations 
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of current U.S. Export Regulations(EAR) and how they apply to INFICON products, customers, and operations worldwide 
  • Ensure all GTS data and functions are maintained to ensure accurate AES data transfer for export declarations 
  • Work cross functionally to ensure company-wide trade compliance in all aspects of INFICON’s business operations 
  • Assist with customs clearance strategy and best practice for both U.S. and international activities 
  • Maintain inbound and outbound product classifications, Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) database development and application 
  • Maintain country of origin determination 
  • Effectively apply and ensure compliance with international trade agreements, e.g. USMCA, KORUS, ILFTA, etc. 
  • Implement and maintain advanced control procedures for shipping 
  • Optimize freight costs; maintain relationships and performance of carriers and freight forwarders  
  • Strive for continuous improvement in all facets of logistics and compliance processes to ensure maximum efficiency and full company compliance at all times 
  • Utilize BIS SNAP-R to submit export license applications and to maintain accurate and updated Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) listing for all INFICON products 
  • Train all international colleagues regarding how EAR applies to overseas transactions of U.S. origin products and technology 
  • Coordinate global logistics requirements with INFICON sales organizations and external suppliers 

Qualifications

  • Possess a detailed understanding of current U.S. Export Regulations (EAR) and import regulations of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and how they apply to INFICON products, customers, and operations worldwide. 
  • Be able to navigate all applicable functionalities  
  • Understand how GTS applies to INFICON’s daily operations, both in Syracuse and international locations. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities 
  • Understanding of SAP warehouse operations, inventory and material management modules 
  • Some experience and understand for Lean principles 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Effective working knowledge of DOT and IATA regulations for the shipment of Hazardous Materials 

 

Education and/or Experience   

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of trade compliance experience, preferred discipline in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business; or 9+ years of supply chain experience in lieu of a degree 
  • Experience with SAP ideally in warehouse, material master and shipping transactions 
  • Experience with worldwide operations and logistics in a manufacturing environment 
  • Prefer experience with SAP ERP and GTS in a manufacturing environment
