About the role

Mission Summary

We're looking for a Software Engineer to design and develop Motional's Remote Vehicle Assistance HMI application .  Remote Vehicle Assistance (RVA) project main goal is to overcome gaps in AV’s Operation Design Domain to allow expanded operations using a remote human operator. This involves overriding onboard AV systems (perception, planner and control).

The Motional Las Vegas office is located less than 10 miles from the Las Vegas strip at 730 E Pilot Road, the Las Vegas office is home to one of the largest fleets of self-driving vehicles. The city’s grid system of roads and being one of America’s “smart cities” allows for extensive research and development testing.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop and enhance Motional's Remote Vehicle Assistance HMI application 
  • Collaborate with UX designers, Product Managers, System Engineers and other teams for solving complex problems
  • Translate UI designs into UI code components
  • Design and implement unit tested code based on system requirements 
  • Investigate, Debug, and fix software issues or any general issues affecting RVA software

What We're Looking For:

  • Proficient in C++ (Modern C++ - 11/14/17 or later)
  • Experience with game-engine/graphics programming and OpenGL and/or Vulkan API
  • Experience working with Qt Framework and used QML for creating custom looking UI components
  • Experience in GUI application development
  • Experience writing unit tests using Google Test
  • Experience in debugging software especially C++ GUI applications
  • Experience with Linux ubuntu operating system

Bonus Points (not required):

  • Experience with test automation preferably using Squish
  • Experience with Boost library
  • Experience working with Bazel build system
  • Experience working with Python
  • Experience applying software engineering design/principle/practices - e.g. design patterns, OOP, TDD
