Senior Manager, Emerging Business Development

The Business Development and Partnerships team helps plan Waymo's dynamic future and drive our go-to-market strategy. We work cross-functionally and leverage quantitative and qualitative analysis to build forward-looking commercial partnerships that deliver on Waymo's strategic business objectives. As a member of this entrepreneurial and results-oriented team, you will have a significant impact on defining, developing and executing Waymo's commercial deployment.
This role will be based hybrid on-site in San Francisco and report into our Head of Emerging Business Development.
In this role you'll:
- Develop 'first of kind' business development strategies to identify and pursue new partnership opportunities
- Build relationships with important partners, including C-level executives
- Structure and negotiate custom / 'first-of-kind' partnership agreements with mutual incentives and balanced terms
- Collaborate with a broad range of colleagues (e.g. internally with Operations, Product, Legal, and Finance teams, and externally at both the executive and working levels) to achieve growth
- Explain business & product requirements in collaboration with technical team members, taking into consideration Waymo's overall strategy and goals
- Travel domestically and internationally to meet with partners
At a minimum we'd like you to have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of work experience in business development or strategic partnerships or a similar partner-facing role in the technology or transportation sector
- Experience structuring and negotiating strategic partnership or other custom agreements
- Experience operating within and leading cross-team efforts (with Product, Legal, Finance, Operations), including on sensitive, complex or confidential plans
- Desire to build something that has not yet been built before, and an ability to manage through the ups and downs of this uncertainty
It's preferred if you have:
- Experience promoting business, legal and technical points with external and internal teams, including at the executive level
- Experience developing and implementing scalable solutions to complex problems within a rapidly-evolving organization

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
