Collins Aerospace is currently seeking student engineers for our Cargo Systems, Continuous Improvement (CI) department located in Jamestown, ND. You will work in a cross-functional team supporting all business functions in Continuous Improvements initiatives. Team culture is extremely collaborative and engaging; we value our customer, our products, and our people (that means you).

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in the implementation of Continuous Improvement strategies supporting aggressive business goals.
  • Apply and assist the application and use of lean principles and tools toward developing the organization in the least waste way.
  • Nurture an environment that enables real time problem identification and resolution.
  • Identify and remove barriers to implementation of Continuous Improvement
  • Develop the understanding and skills to assist with hands on education, training and application of Continuous Improvement principles and tools.
  • Assist in all lean transformation efforts throughout the business processes.
  • Assist with the necessary follow-up actions to close out to-do actions after CI events.

What You Will Learn:

  • You will learn how to leverage the CI operating system to meet customer business commitments
  • You will gain valuable experience applying lean principles and tools.
  • You will gain experience supporting our Cargo handling systems, with our signature products including, Advance Cargo Loading Delivery System, Cargo On/Off Leading System, and FasTurn™ Cargo Handling system.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Knowledge of lean principles, six sigma or Toyota production system
  • Proven ability in software applications including MS Office Suite
