Your Specific Responsibilities: 

 

This position follows the Sarasota County Schools 10-month academic calendar.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

• Provides and coordinates generalized school health services at assigned schools according to the local School Health Services Plan, established protocols, and supervisor’s instructions.
• Manages and coordinates special projects related to School Health as outlined in the local School Health Services Plan, established protocols, and supervisor’s instructions. You will need to provide age-appropriate nursing counseling on topics including but not limited to smoking cessation, domestic violence prevention, and suicide prevention.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor's instructions with adjustable scheduling such as participating in Department of Health clinics as assigned, attending, and participating in staff development among others.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Knowledge of nursing practice
• Interpersonal skills
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule
• Ability to make visits/meetings outside the school setting
• Ability to operate various machines and equipment such as computers, copiers, fax machines, etc.

 

Qualifications: 

Minimum-

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27, or possess a nursing multi-state license through the Nurse Licensure Compact
• Valid Florida driver’s license or the ability to obtain one

 

Preferred –

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other health related fields
• One year of professional nursing experience
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, public health, or a related field
• School health nursing experience
• Home Health nursing experience
