Department Overview
Electric Operations (EO) ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.
Electric Operations Construction Management is responsible for the construction, project and contract management of PG&E’s electric distribution overhead and underground facilities.
Position Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for construction and improvement projects in the electric UG system. The Construction Manager identifies giveaway recipients, develops soil management plans, manages spoils and recycling yards, consults on project feasibility and project site details, coordinates with construction crews, oversees project inspectors, and on a project specific basis performs construction oversight.
The incumbent may also prepare job packages and construction estimates, conduct job walks, and meet with bidders, contractors, and governing agencies. The Construction Manager ensures projects are completed per company standards, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits and schedule.

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.
The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Pay Range:
- Minimum: $120,00
- Midpoint: $155,00
- Maximum: $200,00
Job Responsibilities
- Applies broad expertise to work on projects in multiple disciplines such as civil, electrical, process instrumentation and pipeline construction management with a high degree of knowledge and ability. Works closely with Project Managers and Electric Operation Supervisors to understand construction targets and identify potential contractual projects.
- Works with project managers, civil construction managers, and contractors to minimize soil disposal. Works with project managers, civil construction managers, contractors, and customers to facilitate clean soil giveaway in compliance with all PG&E policies and procedures. Manages UG dry spoils management yards and drilling fluid recycling yards to support 10k program.
- Works with project mangers and central operations to establish new UG soils management yards as needed. Tracks spoils costs and management plan for each UG project. Reports project statuses to leadership to ensure on-time delivery for all spoils management plans and support.
- Works with EFS and Civil Construction Managers to support pre-construction in-situ soil sampling. Compiles and interprets internal drawings and relevant data for the RFP and contract processes, renegotiates contract scope with contractor when needed.
- Following start of construction, consults and clarifies technical details for contractors, Electric Operation Supervisors and Inspectors while assisting with change orders if needed. Addresses all communication and project documentation with contractors and conduct meetings at the job site.
- Monitors daily construction activities and ensures the construction operations meet the program’s safety, quality, cost and schedule goals. Utilizes workload management database, updates any assigned projects, reviews workload analysis reports for action, and manages full planning team process from inception via request for contract.
- Acts as point of contact for construction contractors, ensures the contractor’s plan and assigned resources are adequate to deliver the highest value. Obtains any information, resources, services or materials needed to maintain the construction workflow, budget and schedule from Project Coordinator, Engineering, Contracts or other internal PG&E teams.
- Ensures contractors follow safety plans, project environmental/land permits and PG&E safety rule
