Job Description:

Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, you will be instrumental in driving U-Haul transportation strategy and operations, supporting Purchasing, Customer Service, and U-Haul Field entities, and any related projects.

Duties:

• Logistical collaboration and support with carriers, U-Haul field personnel, retail teams, origin, and destination operations teams to solve shipment delivery issues.
• Partner with teams across the business you support and beyond to source, allocate, and coordinate resources.
• Manage shipment tracking, defect analysis, and exception management in coordination with transportation service providers across Small Package, LTL, FTL, Ocean, Rail and Cross-Border movements.
• Freight cost research, allocation, and strategy.
• Production load planning, scheduling, tracking, and auditing.
• Carrier freight claim program development, filing and resolution on behalf of U-Haul.
• Write and update operations SOPs as part of process improvement
• Special projects as directed.

• Develop, execute, and improve operations procedures with strong disciplines and establishing best practices.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Experience using data to drive root cause elimination and process improvement, designing processes to maximize efficiency.
• Develop, implement, and govern KPI reporting for any new process established. Must be proficient in spreadsheet analysis and reporting.
• Experience with automated self-service reporting tools, internal U-Haul programs and external carrier and TMS systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing initiatives and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Mathematical aptitude, schedule, logic and reasoning, cost studies, and basic accounting concepts.
• Must have extensive knowledge of the various modes in the transportation industry:
• (small package, LTL, truckload, rail, ocean, expedited, etc.).
• Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize, problem solve, plan, and organize. Impeccable attention to detail is essential.

Education/Training Requirements:

College degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or other business related, field, or equivalent work experience

Experience:

• Must have 3 years' experience in transportation/logistics field.
